Meet the Coach

Lauren (Brooks) Scorza

Head Field Hockey Coach at St. John Fisher University

After growing up in Lancaster, Pennsylvania and moving to Rochester following her career at Syracuse University, Lauren is excited to give back to the game that has given so much to her. Lauren identified a need for Elite Level training in the Rochester area and is excited to help young athletes improve their skills and achieve their goals through her “small group session” approach. This training style will maximize individual attention, constructive feedback, and increase the number of touches on the ball for each athlete.

Lauren was one of the top scorers in Syracuse University field hockey history, tallying 40 goals and 10 assists in her four-year career with the Orange.  That goal total ranks Brooks in the top 10 in school history. While at Syracuse, she participated in four NCAA Division I Tournaments and helped the Orange earn two Big East titles.  Lauren was on SU’s 2014 squad which reached the Division I National Championship game.

Lauren graduated from Syracuse in 2015 with a Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics and a minor in Exercise Science. She is the current Head Field Hockey Coach at St. John Fisher University in Rochester, NY. In her second season at the helm, Scorza and her staff were named “Coaching Staff of the Year” in 2023. Prior to Fisher, she was an assistant coach at the University of Rochester for four seasons. She helped lead the Yellowjackets to their second Liberty League Title in school history in 2019. She is a Level II Certified USAFH Coach and assists with the Nexus training program as well.

Brooks was married in September of 2019 (and now goes by Lauren Scorza). She lives in the Rochester area with her husband, Spencer, and son, Noah. In her free time she enjoys cooking, skiing, and spending time with her Golden Retriever named Finley.
